Consultation Services

New Patient Consultation

An appointment dedicated to a comprehensive exam of your entire mouth. We will chat with you about your desires for your mouth and formulate any treatment together.

Dental Health Check-up:

At every check-up we will carefully examine your jaws, gums and teeth. We will also carry out a comprehensive full mouth oral cancer screen. Every tooth will be checked thoroughly to help us to identify any problems and to address them before they get worse. This will allow us to keep treatment to the minimum necessary. You will always be given time to chat through any concerns or questions you may have.

Small Intra Oral Radiographs (X-Rays)

We use low radiation, digital radiography ("X-rays") which can be quickly brought up on our patient viewing screens to ensure you can fully participate in the planning of your care.

Restorative Care

Tooth Coloured Crowns

When a tooth is badly broken down or heavily filled a bespoke colour matched crown can be used to increase the strength of the tooth and return its natural appearance.

Crowns can also be indicated for teeth discoloured by large, old fillings, when teeth have been root filled, or when cosmetic changes to the shape, colour and position of teeth are desired.

We are able to provide metal free all ceramic crowns for those wanting the best possible cosmetic results without the potential greying effect often seen at the margin of metal based crowns.

Gold Crowns

Gold crowns are still the gold standard in terms of longevity against which all other restorations are measured. Their appearance often limits their placement to back teeth.

Veneers

Veneers are custom made thin layers of porcelain, which are precisely made to fit onto the visible surface of front teeth. They are an ideal way to treat discoloured or unsightly teeth, closing gaps between front teeth or repairing chips and cracks with a minimal preparation of the teeth. Sometimes no preparation is needed.

Bridges

Missing teeth can affect your smile and cause other teeth to be overworked. Also adjacent teeth can drift into the space altering the way you bite together. Food can often pack in difficult to clean areas, leading to gum disease and decay. These missing teeth can be replaced with natural looking bridges. One or sometimes two adjacent teeth are used to support the bridge. The custom made bridge is fixed in the mouth and cannot be removed. The result is a great looking smile.

Tooth coloured (white) fillings

With modern dentistry fillings are not only functional but can look natural as well. More and more patients are requesting white fillings in order to achieve a great cosmetic result and a confident smile.

Bonded Amalgam Fillings

These are excellent options for back teeth where strength is required. The bonding technique increases the strength of the tooth compared with un-bonded, conventional amalgam fillings.

Root Canal Treatment

Infected teeth and those with abscesses no longer need to be removed. The aim of the treatment is to remove all infection from the root canal. The root is then cleaned and filled to prevent any further infection. Root canal treatment is a highly skilled procedure and is usually very successful. Following this treatment it is often advisable to restore the tooth with a crown to provide extra support and strength.

Dentures

Replacing lost or missing teeth has substantial benefits for your health and appearance. A complete or full denture replaces the natural teeth and provides support for cheeks and lips. Without this support, sagging facial muscles can make a patient appear older and reduce their ability to eat and speak.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening can be a highly effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surface,

At home dentist supervised whitening

Professional whitening is the most common form of teeth whitening. Custom made trays are made to fit your teeth comfortably rather like a very thin gum shield. The whitening gel is placed inside the tray which are then worn on a daily basis. Your teeth will gently reach a natural white colour.

Preventive Care

Preventive dentistry is the modern way of reducing the amount of dental treatment needed to maintain a healthy mouth. With decay and gum disease being the 2 major causes of tooth loss the better we prevent and deal with these problems the better the chance you have of keeping your teeth for life. The joint efforts of patient, dentist and hygienist can help to prevent the need for treatment and so prevent the age old problem of repeated fillings and subsequent extractions. A course of treatment to get your mouth in good dental health may be recommended and a maintenance plan formulated to help you keep it that way.

Periodontal (Gum) Care

Regular professional cleaning combined with an effective home care routine will help you keep your mouth healthy. A clean and healthy mouth will improve your appearance, help you keep your teeth and give you fresh breath.

This treatment is carried out by our registered practice hygienist who has been professionally trained to the highest standards and works with us to provide you with the best care possible.

Advanced Periodontal Care

Periodontal disease affects up to 75% of the population. Its destructive effect on the gums and supporting bone can lead to gum recession, tooth mobility and premature tooth loss. The supporting bone and gum levels are accurately measured and appropriate X-rays taken where indicated. These detailed measurements are used to precisely target the areas requiring specialised cleaning and used to measure the success of the treatment.

Sports Mouth guards

A well made mouth guard is essential to protect your teeth from damage during contact sports such as hockey, rugby, football, netball and basketball. All mouth guards are available in a huge variety of colours and designs. We can even put your name or that of your team into it to ensure you hold on to it! CE approved.

Fissure Sealants

Sealants are a safe and painless way of protecting your children's teeth from decay. A sealant is a protective plastic coating, which is applied to the biting surfaces of the back teeth. The sealant forms a hard shield which keeps food and bacteria from getting into the tiny grooves in the teeth and causing decay.
